White Wine and Mustard Marinated Steak
A lovely mid week meal, or a great recipe for entertaining, just remember to keep your own potion size sensible.
Ingredients: Serves two
- 2 x 100g 1-cm thick steaks, any type trimmed of any excess fat
- 3 tablespoons white wine
- ½ tablespoon vegetable or olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Pinch of ground sea salt
- Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
- 1 large shallot, sliced
Prep
Combine the white wine, salt, pepper and Dijon mustard, marinade the steaks at room temperature for 10 minutes (keep the marinade)
In a lightly oiled frying pan or griddle on a medium heat for 2–4 minutes per side for medium-rare or until desired degree of doneness. Remove steak from pan onto a plate and let them rest for 5 minutes, keeping them warm in a low heat oven or with some kitchen foil, placed just over the top.
Once the steaks are cooked add the shallot to the pan and sauté for 1 minute, add the left over marinade and simmer gently until the liquid has reduced by half which take about 2-3 minutes, stir frequently so it doesn’t stick to the pan. Spoon the sauce over steaks to serve.
