Perfect Traditional Apple Crumble
Sometimes the simple is the best – this great weight loss friendly crumble will keep everyone satisfied, one spoonful of custard is just right with this great crumble.
Ingredients: Makes two crumbles
- 1 medium cooking apple, you can use sharp eating apples, about 200 g
- 25g plain flour
- 2 tablespoons caster sugar
- 15g cold butter
- 1 tablespoon dark brown soft sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4.
Peel and chop the apples then stew with 1 tablespoon of caster sugar and cinnamon with a little water until soft, add the washed blackberries and stir on a gentle heat for 5 minutes. Place the apples in a medium or two individual oven proof dishes.
In a bowl rub the butter into the flour with the back of a fork until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add the remaining caster sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the remaining oats and brown sugar on top.
Bake in a preheated oven for 20- 30 minutes, delicious hot or cold.
